I have been anticipating this day for several months. Why? Because today is registration day for the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
It will be my first marathon, and I am really excited to tackle such a huge challenge. I'm also scared because it's such a huge challenge.
The race is in October, so I won't start training until the summer. But today also marks my first day of training for my next big race, the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon.
A few years ago, I couldn't run a mile. Now, I'm training for my second half-marathon and signing up for my first full marathon. I can't wait to see how far these little legs of mine will take me.
Have you ever run a marathon? Any advice?

Exciting! I'm running the mini too, eek! It's definitely a good way to get moving in these icky winter months. I think I've decided half is quite enough for me, but good for you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the Mini!
DeleteYAY CONGRATULATIONS GIRL!!!! So exciting :) And you know where to find all of my advice. I'll give you a full run-down after the race is over. But for now, cross-train cross-train cross-train!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice! I'm definitely looking forward to your race recap. :-)
DeleteHow exciting! I can't wait to hear how your training and eventual race go!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I am considering signing up for the Richmond Marathon in November. We'll see how my second half goes next month first!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
DeleteYeay! I hope you didn't have any issues signing up; I heard there were some glitches. I've never run Chicago, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. I've got two marathons under my belt, and it's a distance I love. My two cents: don't worry about a time goal for your first one. No matter what, it's going to be harder than you expect on race day. Just finishing is a huge accomplishment, so don't beat yourself up if you don't do it as fast as you want to the first go around.
ReplyDeleteIt took me an hour-and-a-half to sign up. Super frustrating. One of my friends was traveling for work and didn't get in. Now there's only 15,000 spots left (out of 45,000), so I hope she gets in once they reopen registration. And thanks for the advice!
