2014 Golden Globes Recap

Last night was my favorite night of awards show season. After making the very difficult choice to watch the Globes instead of Downton Abbey, I sat on the couch with a glass of wine, a bowl of ice cream, and my Twitter account on constant refresh. Here were the highlights of the night:

Best Dressed
Hands down, the best-dressed person on the red carpet last night was Margot Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street. I want to go back in time and wear her Gucci dress for my wedding. That green and white rhinestone trim is KILLING ME.

Worst Dressed
Zoe Saldana. Girl. No. She said her friend Prabal Gurung made this dress for her. Zoe, if you're reading this, I think Prabal is more of a Regina George-type friend than a true friend. That is the ugliest effing dress I have ever seen.

Best Joke
Once again, Tina and Amy killed it. Can they just host everything? And also be my best friends? Their opening monologue was full of hilarious jokes, but the best joke of the night was about Gravity and George Clooney.
"Gravity is nominated for best film. It's the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age."
I laughed so hard that I had to rewind because I missed the next joke.

Most Awkward Moment
This honor goes to Jacqueline Bisset, who won Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or TV Movie. While it was only the second award of the night, Ms. Bisset rambled in her acceptance speech like it was hour (and Champagne bottle) #3. Yikes.

Winner I Want to Hang Out with the Most
I decided to carry this category over from last year because my girl Leslie Knope finally won! Amy Poehler is nominated every single year for a Globe and usually an Emmy, but she never wins. I was so happy for her! And I loved that she made out with Bono before accepting her award. A+ work, Poehler.

  1. I looooved Tina's dress in that gif above. I liked her red carpet one too, but the burgundy was just so classy.

    1. Her gown during the show was miles better than her red carpet look!

    2. I was so glad Tina changed! I was going to fail her red carpet look, but she redeemed herself.

  2. I also thought Paula Patton's dress was heinous.

Your pick for best dress though is spot-on. I can't get over how clean and elegant her dress is.

    1. Oh, God, Paula Patton's dress was a disaster. She was a close runner-up to Zoe.

  3. OMG, ZOE. Prabal Gurang was totally the loser tonight. His dress on Sandra Bullock was awful, too. And that George Clooney joke. I died!

    1. Yeah, I cannot say I liked Sandy's dress. It looked like something you might wear to a very fancy baby shower.

  4. Lena Dunham needs to find a new stylist. Her dresses are never flattering on her. Also, I thought Amy Poehler looked really good on the red carpet. And I know it was weird, but I actually really liked Emma Watson's dress thing. Maybe it's just because she's so pretty.

    1. ugh Lena Dunham. She always looks TERRIBLE. I find it so frustrating. I kind of liked Emma Watson's, too? The color was great on her.
