Weekender Bags

Summer is the season of quick getaways. Whether it's a weekend at the beach on Long Island or 4th of July at my in-laws' lake house in Michigan, I'm tired of having to take my wheeled suitcase with me when I take short trips. It's time to invest in a weekender bag. My criteria are as follows:

  • can hold enough for 3 days of travel
  • front pocket
  • shoulder strap
  • stylish
  • around $100 or cheaper

This Everlane bag is almost perfect. It's simple, sturdy, and stylish. The only things I don't like are the lack of a shoulder strap and lack of a front pocket. I like to have my phone accessible without having to unzip my bag when I travel.

Kate Spade Saturday

My favorite part about this Kate Spade Saturday Weekender Bag is the zippered shoe compartment on the bottom. You could also use it for dirty laundry. It seems a bit small, though, and the price is over budget.

This Herschel bag has the size of the Everlane bag and the shoulder strap and shoe compartment of the Kate Spade Saturday bag. Still no front pocket, though.

Lo & Sons

The Lo and Sons O.G. bag has quite the fan club on the internet, and it's easy to see why. With compartments for everything, it's great for work, the gym, quick trips, and even a carry-on bag. The only problem is the price. $295 seems a bit steep for something I'll only use a few times a year.

Do you have a favorite weekender bag?

  1. If you like Vera Bradley's prints, they have some nice weekender bags.

    1. You know, despite the fact that I'm from Fort Wayne (where VB is headquartered), I always forget about Vera Bradley! They make great stuff! I'm not wild about the patterns, but they make almost everything in black nowadays. Thanks!

  2. So! I have the Everlane bag! For me, the straps are long enough to sling it onto my shoulder AND there is a front pocket! It's actually on the side, but it's pretty big and I use it for my phone and wallet and things like that!

    1. Also! Random, but I have the OMG from Lo & Sons that I'm selling (I'm using my Weekender more). I know it's slightly smaller, but if you're looking to buy let me know!

    2. Oh, I didn't know about the side pocket! Interesting...

I think the OMG would be slightly too small for what I'm looking for, but thanks!
